Finally, President Commissions Nairobi-Thika Superhighway

President Mwai Kibaki will tomorrow Friday November 9th, 2012 officially open the Nairobi-Thika superhighway.

The President will arrive at the Museum Hill Interchange at 10.00 a.m. where he will unveil a commemorative plague to officially open the Superhighway.


President Kibaki will thereafter drive through the newly opened superhighway to Thika to make his address marking the occasion.


On arrival, the President will be received by Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Roads Minister Franklin Bett, his Finance counterpart Njeru Githae and the Chairperson Kenya National Highways Authority Mrs Hannah Mureithi.


The Sh30bn Superhighway project involved expansion of the four-lane carriageway to eight lanes, building underpasses, providing interchanges roundabouts, erecting flyovers and building underpasses to ease congestion.
